How to DIY a Concrete Countertop

Concrete is solid, easy to dry, easy to shape and affordable. Material

Cement, knife, bucket, mud knife, brush, cloth, tape, sand paper, sand light machine, vacuum cleaner, concrete seal curing agent, concrete table special wax, mask and so on.


Preparation

Build a new countertops from scratch, you need to build the base with the plywood based on the size of the kitchen and your own needs, and then build an outer enclosure along the edge of the base, and put the metal mesh in a fixed shape after the basic framework is made.


Modulating Concrete

Mix dry cement with water in 2:1 ratio. The treated cement is poured into the self-made plastic mold frame and levelled and filled with holes with a trowel. Let the cement dry for 2 hours by itself, then brush it up and repeat it several times.


Polishing

Use polisher to fully polish the countertops until smooth. It may takes you a long time. It is suggested that you take protective tools such as gloves, finger sleeves, mask and so on. If you want to add some personalization effects, you can add some design when you haven't done it yet. For example, with a leaf, embedded in cement, leaving a more natural style of texture.Then wait for 24 hours to dry the concrete thoroughly and then remove the moulds.

Waxing
